On 29 May 2021, a group of classic Jaguar owners got together for a special event co-hosted by The Classic Car Club of Hong Kong and Bremont Watches to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type. Bremont had released a collection of Jaguar-edition watches for this special milestone, all of which were presented at the Gold Coast Hotel where the lunch event took place.

The Jaguar E-Type was released in 1961 to celebrate the Jaguar D-Type’s racing success. Allegedly described by even Enzo Ferrari as one of the most beautiful cars ever made, the E-Type was in production for more than ten years, from 1961 all the way to 1975. Generally, a total of three series of the Jaguar E-Type were made. The series 1, considered by most to be the prettiest, came with 3.8 and 4.2 straight-six engines, while the series 2 was largely similar mechanically but had its exterior redesigned mostly due to U.S. car safety regulation changes. The final iteration, the series 3, was pretty much a completely different car, where the E-Type went from being a sports car to a proper grand tour with a massive V12 under the bonnet.

On this special day in Hong Kong, there were eight E-Types representing all the three series. The oldest was a grey series 1 soft top made in 1961, and the latest being a series 3 soft top. In between those two were a number of series 1 and series 2 soft tops and fixed heads. While it was impossible to have all the different variants of the E-Type present, since there were a lot of different variations throughout its decade-plus production period (e.g. from the earliest “flat floors” to 2+2 fixed heads), it has to be said that the collection of E-Types present was impressively complete.
